DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT

Building 225 is Hill Air Force Base’s largest Hangar.  It is the home of the maintenance mission for the F-16 and C-130 aircraft. The facility was built circa 1940, and this is the first major overhaul that the building has received.  Due to current worldwide military conditions, bldg. 225 is at full capacity.  Careful planning with around the clock work schedules were required.  This phase of the renovation covered over 125,000 square feet of floor space with ceilings height varying from 40 feet to 90 feet.  Over 5000 gallons of paint were applied to ceilings and walls.

Fifty percent of the contract required 24/7 work schedules.  The notice to proceed was issued on June 3, 2005 and by July 13th, 65% of the contract was completed with 50% of the floor space turned back over to the government.  The project was completed and turned over to the government on September 7, 2005.  The original contract completion date was October 20, 2005.

The scope of work included demoliton of four 200 foot trolley crane systems, demoliton of old electrical and mechancial systems, installation of  new insulated sound board, Installation of cable tray for the building communication system, full painting of the structure and a complete renovation of the concrete floor with a new overlay epoxy floor system.
