Building 225 is Hill Air Force
Base’s largest Hangar. It is the
home of the maintenance mission for the F-16 and C-130 aircraft. The
facility was built circa 1940, and this is the first major overhaul that
the building has received. Due to
current worldwide military conditions, bldg. 225 is at full capacity. Careful planning with around the clock
work schedules were required. This
phase of the renovation covered over 125,000 square feet of floor space
with ceilings height varying from 40 feet to 90 feet. Over 5000 gallons of paint were applied
to ceilings and walls.
Fifty percent of
the contract required 24/7 work schedules.
The notice to proceed was issued on June 3, 2005 and by July 13th,
65% of the contract was completed with 50% of the floor space turned back
over to the government. The project
was completed and turned over to the government on September 7, 2005. The original contract completion date was
October 20, 2005.
The scope of work included demoliton of four 200 foot
trolley crane systems, demoliton of old electrical and mechancial systems,
installation of new insulated sound
board, Installation of cable tray for the building communication system,
full painting of the structure and a complete renovation of the concrete
floor with a new overlay epoxy floor system.
