Understanding How the Purge Fluid Distillation System Works

Like all mechanical systems, the JP8/purge fluid distillation system can be designed in a number of ways to meet the client’s needs and requirements: as a single system with stand-alone tanks, a distiller, a chiller, piping, pumps, filters, and control panels or with much of the piping, pumps, filters, and control panels included as an integral part of the tank housing.

As shown in the figure below, the six-step JP8/purge fluid distillation process begins with pumping the clean purge fluid into the aircraft and ends with the distiller unit pumping clean reclaimed purge fluid for reuse and off-spec fuel into their appropriate tanks for use.
